Great Experiences in Cyprus

Today we got a new District President for Cyprus, President Mario Georgieva, our Bulgarian friend. He helped translate The Book of Mormon into Bulgarian several years ago and will be a great leader for the Church in Cyprus.

He and his wife Rumi have been good friends to us. They bore wonderful testimonies of the gospel today as they spoke at the conference.
Their daughters, Eva and Kali, are two of my seminary girls.

About 138 people attended the conference today.  Sonia from India has become one of those great friends.

President and Sister Kosifou are going home to England after being here for ten years.  We are already missing them.

Last week we took these two fine elders, Koponen and Bernskov, out for lunch at Traditional English Fish & Chips where we surprised them by having President and Sister Freestone sitting at the table as we walked up.

President Freestone insisted on paying for everyone--plus bought delicious ice cream treats afterward at New York Sweets. The Freestones always brighten our lives and help inspire and motivate all the missionaries in Greece and Cyprus. How can we not love such a couple?

We love this sweet Nigerian member, Antonia, and teach one of her roommates with a sweet little daughter,

 Kendel!

We have lots of fun experiences with the other senior couples, and

we will miss these wonderful people, the friends we have made and the experiences we shall never forget.

What an amazing ride it has been! Memories we will cherish for years to come.

Our hearts are so full.  We will never forget.

We love this amazing mission in Cyprus!  Thanks for viewing, reading and commenting! Your support has meant so much to us over the past 17 months.

Three Weeks, Three Baptisms!

Janice, a tiny woman with a big heart and love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, went into the Med Sea on Sunday, April 14.

Elders Koponen, Clack, who performed the baptism, and Bernskov got in the sea with Janice.

A nice group came out for the baptism early in the morning before church.
Sweet Janice was a little cold after her immersion into a new life.

President Ivanov and councilor, Mario Georgieva, are the solid rock foundation of our branch.

It is sad to see some elders go, we all love Elder Sorg so much, but then others come and it's alright again.
We picked up Elder Barber from the airport the next day.

Another great elder from England, Elder Watts, is now in Larnaca.

We had a great Potluck after watching delayed Gen. Conf. on Sunday. It was a big day with the baptism, church and all the fun.

The only baby in the branch, Alexis Ivanov, came to the baptism, and her mother, Rosie and sweet Rumianna Georgieve keep a close watch on her.

We love all the wonderful members of our Larnaca Branch!

Transfers and Baptisms

Daniel, shown here with Mo, Elder Christensen and Moson, was baptized on March 30.

Elder Sorg, who is new to the mission, did the baptizing.

It was kind of Daniel to hang on to Elder Christensen as the rocks were quite slippery.

Despina watched as Daniel was baptized.  She will be the next one to become a member of the church.

We always have nice refreshments after the baptisms.  Elders Brandenburg and Uhlig with Lyn.

We had another trip to Pafos and got to see Elders Matthews and Kopischke.
Transfer day brought the senior couples and one lone sister, Sister Werner, to Larnaca.
Later that day the plane brought us some wonderful new elders, Bernskov, Koponen and Stephen.

And a companion for Sister Werner!

Elders Watts and Dale came back to Nicosia!

Our sweet seminary girl, Despina, got baptized on April 6th! A perfect day for a perfect angel to go into the Med. Sea.

Ethan Wilderspin and his brother, Sam, came all the way from England to be here for her baptism.

Baptizing was Elder Clack, with Elder Sorg and Ethan Wilderspin witnessing.

Amanda, a convert of five months, is grateful to see her daughter become a member of the true Church of Jesus Christ.

After church in our flat with members, missionaries and plenty of investigators!  What a wonderful baptizing mission we are privileged to serve!
